How to get there SAPA?
There are many different ways to get to Sapa, depending on the time you want to spend on the way and the budget you have you can go either by train, by bus or by motorbike.
1. If you want to go from Hanoi to Sapa by bus the trip will last about 5 hours in a sleeper bus, and it will cost you about 16$. As you will see, there are different depature hours, so you can book the one that fits you better or even from other place to go to Sapa

2. Another option is going Sapa by train. As there is no direct train to Sapa from hanoi, you will need to take a train to Lao Cai and then a bus to Sapa. Traveling this way will take you about 8hours and a half and it will cost a little bit more than the bus option. If you buy the ticket from the Vietnam Railway webpage it will cost you about 39$. After arriving to Lao Cai, you will need to take a bus that will take you to Sapa, which will cost you about 3$. If you choose this option, the best idea is to take the night bus, so you don’t waste the time traveling and you have more time to visit places.
3. The last option is to rent a motorbike. This option is only for those who are adventurous. It will cost you more than traveling by bus or by train, but the experience will be totally different too. Traveling this way will allow you to visit other places in your way to Sapa.
Where to stay (town vs village)
Once you get to Sapa you can choose to stay in the same town or to go to a near village. Staying in the town will allow you to have all you need near you. However, if you decide to stay in a nearby village, the experience will be totally unforgetable.
The Hotels in Sapa town will vary depending on the luxury and the facilities you want. Most of them have views to the mountains and the valley, and as said before, you will be able to go to the restaurants and shops when you want. If you decide to experience more authentic Vietnamese culture, a good option is a Homestay. Once you arrive to Sapa you will find ethnical women offering a Homestay. When looking for a Homestay you need to be careful because not all offer a real experience. When staying in a homestay you will have a real sight of what traditional living is, for about 10$, breakfast included in many cases. This type of accommodation has its disadvantages, such as not beign in the centre of the town, but the experience you will live is worth it.
